Tea saponin is a type of natural glycoside compound contained in Camellia plants. It is a mixture of oleanane-type pentacyclic triterpene saponins. Its basic structure consists of three parts: sapogenin, glycosomes and organic acids. Tea saponin has the same properties as camellia plant saponins. Tea saponin is distributed in the roots, stems, leaves and seeds of the tea tree, but its molecular structure is different, resulting in different physical properties. What is Tea saponin?
Tea saponin, also known as tea saponin, is a type of glycoside compound extracted from tea tree seeds (tea seeds, tea seeds). It is a natural surfactant with good performance. Tea saponin belongs to the triterpenoid saponins. After testing, Tea saponin has good emulsification, dispersion, foaming, moistening and other functions, and has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-penetration and other pharmacological effects. Tea saponin has a destructive effect on animal red blood cells and causes hemolysis. However, tea saponin only causes hemolysis on red blood cells (including nucleated fish blood, chicken blood and non-nucleated human blood, etc.), but has no effect on white blood cells. Therefore, tea saponin has toxic effects on fish but not on shrimps. The hemolytic mechanism is believed to be caused by tea saponin causing changes in the permeability of cholesterol-containing cell membranes, initially destroying the cell membrane, leading to extravasation of the cytoplasm, and ultimately the disintegration of the entire red blood cell. The prerequisite for the solubility effect is that tea saponin must be in contact with blood, so it is non-toxic when taken orally by humans and animals.

Extraction process of tea saponin powder
Joyous uses a new process to extract tea saponin, namely water extraction and alcohol precipitation. The optimal process conditions for the water extraction process are extraction temperature 60°C, liquid-to-solid ratio 10:1, extraction time 2 h, and extraction times 3 times. After water extraction, alcohol precipitation was performed. The ethanol concentration was 90%, the volume ratio of ethanol to concentrated solution was 4:1, the alcohol precipitation temperature was 75°C, and the alcohol precipitation time was 2.5 h. Under these conditions, the water extraction method and the water extraction method were compared. Precipitation method, it was found that the extraction rate of water extraction and alcohol precipitation method was 95. 2%, and the purity was 69. 9%, which improved the purity and made the subsequent refining process faster and more cost-effective.
